A story about tea towels
Share
Back in 2015 I had an idea to make a Grand Prix Tea Towel. I gave it a go, people thought I was a bit bonkers. But it turned out I wasn’t the only person who liked the idea.
After designing the first one, using tracks maps carefully drawn by my friend, Rob, I created the BoxBoxBoxCo brand and put them out there for people to buy.
Other F1 fans loved them, I wasn’t completely bonkers, hurrah. Before long I ordered another batch and they were being enjoyed all over the world.
Since then, the Grand Prix Tea Towel has been released for every season, even a special 1982 retrospective one when I was dealing with turning 40 last year.
The tea towel has gained some upgrades, switching to organic cotton, addition of a hanging loop. Some new colours being introduced. And it’s still one of my fav products.
Things can’t stand still though, especially in the world of Formula 1. And so, for the 2024 season tea towel, it was time for a proper upgrade.
I’ve kept the original essence of the design, but in terms of the spec of the tea towel, we’re talking a huge upgrade. Still 100% organic cotton, but now it’s a much more weighty fabric (it feels lush) and the print is even higher quality. The hanging loop works better too.
I really hope you like these new 2024 Tea Towels, I am still coming to terms that I am writing yet another blog post about Tea Towels, but hey ho. Haha!
