Getting my car-spotting fix at the Motorist, Yorkshire

Adam Le Feuvre

Living up here in Yorkshire is bloomin' marvellous for so many reasons, but there's one thing lacking - motorsport and car stuff. Or so I thought...

Ok, so yes the majority of race tracks are in the south of the UK, along with copious many more car and motorsport events, but last year I discovered the Motorist - an incredible venue that lives and breathes cars. It's the sort of place my 5yr old self would have been ridiculously excited to spend all day every day.

The venue has plenty (and I mean plenty) of space for parking - and for good reason, because every weekend and many times throughout the week, there are car meets and I mean proper car meets - where you get to see all sorts of incredible cars, meet the owners and have a mooch about.

But that's not all - oh no, far from that - the Motorist has an incredibly good restaurant (appropriately named the Arnage) serving superb food with excellent service and of course, views of all the cars outside.

Then there's a more informal, but cool cafe with a shop stocked full with car related memorabilia and a fine selection of local and independent food and beverages - think a fancy farm shop, come Selfridges food hall and you'll get the idea.

Heck, they even show many of the F1 Grands Prix live there on big screens too, complete with a bar.

In short, the Motorist is heaven for car person and that's me. If you're ever in or near Yorkshire, I strongly recommend popping in.

In fact, I went so regularly, I got speaking with the buyers for the Motorist Store and after a successful trial in 2023, they are now stocking some BoxBoxBoxCo products - yet another reason to pop by and see some of my wares in person :)
