How much fun has F1 become this year!

Adam Le Feuvre

As an F1 fan, I'm more a fan of the racing and the soap opera than a fan of any specific driver or team. Of course I have favourites, but I feel like the first half of the 2024 season has been great.

All things relative of course, during the first 5 races I was losing the will with the season, questioning why am I paying the ridiculous premiums to watch my favourite sport when it's a one driver show with little competition. While I don't Verstappen, at least when Hamilton was winning a lot, there was often a threat - be it, Vettel, Rosberg, Bottas (on a good day) and many others - of course including Verstappen.

I don't like to cheer when a driver has a failure, but I found myself whooping when Verstappen had that brake explode in Melbourne - finally someone else had a chance!

And then, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes have all found form and caught up with Red Bull and the season has come alive. Yes, it's going to take a miracle for there to be a fight for the title, but it's not entirely impossible.

Even so, I'm now excited again when it's an F1 weekend, because it's actually a race - multiple winners this year across 4 teams, is great and more like what it should be like. Thank you to all those engineers out there for working so darn hard to make their cars faster!

It's even fun if Max Verstappen wins now, because chances are he's had to actually fight for the victory.

Who's going to win when F1 returns after the summer break? Well, it could be Sainz, Norris, Leclerc, Piastri, Hamilton, Verstappen, Russell or someone else. Maybe Perez will realise he has a great car, but I won't hold my breath - sorry Perez fans, but the results are painful to look at... eeek.
