Ok, things are getting very much real now. I’m on the grid for the Summer Hill Climb event at Harewood!

After the 3rd Academy day in as many years, then getting a licence and sourcing my kit, the entry is in and I’m all set to experience the Thrill of the Hill in an actual competition. Eeek!

I now have a couple of weeks to watch YouTube videos, practice on the “simulator” and figure out how not to embarrass myself too much.

My car is my beloved Porsche, a 15yr old red Boxster S, or a BoxBoxBoxster as it’s now known. I’ve had the car for a few years, it’s a lot of fun and was a treat to myself – a result of saving up for a while. I distinctly remember saying “mum, one day I’m going to have a Porsche” – 40yrs later and I’m scaring her silly in my red car.

The car is stock, as it was from the factory. I’ve resisted the temptation to tune it or do anything at all. It could maybe do with some new tyres, but figured for my first event I’ll leave it as is and see what happens. I’m fairly sure as the driver I have plenty of room for improvement before the car needs improving.

Let’s go!!

(wish me luck)
